DOM Staff professional development scholarship program

Professional Development Scholarships provide funds to help Department of Medicine staff prepare to advance careers in education, health and medical sciences, or social sciences.

  Resources and development opportunities for professional staff
• Professional Organizational Development  (POD)
  Multiple courses covering different aspects of interpersonal skills, organizational skills, productivity, supervision, leadership; most have small course fee
• LinkedIn Learning
  LinkedIn Learning is an on-demand video learning platform to help you develop and enhance skills. Free access to LinkedIn Learning is provided to all UW students, staff, and faculty by the Student Technology Fee.
• Professional & Continuing Education
  Whether you want to update your skills or delve into a new field, UW Professional & Continuing Education can help. These courses do have a cost associated with them.
• BIPOC Staff Mentorship Program
  This program provides BIPOC Staff with the structural support necessary to develop professional skills to advance their careers and build community over several months through individualized mentorship from UW BIPOC leaders.

• UW School of Medicine Mentorship Program
  Annual mentorship program, matching mentors with mentees.  For both professional and classified staff.  
• UW Medicine Organizational Development and Training
  Leadership development and consultation resources. 
• Collaborative for Research Education (CORE)
  Gain a foundational understanding of research administration practices, policies and resources at the UW. This Certificate Program will support campus departments and central units to align practices, share expertise across units, and support UW learners in forging career pathways for themselves.

Leadership development

• UW strategic leadership program
  Required for staff moving into supervisory positions; SLP supervisor orientation is helpful overview of human resources fundamentals at UW. 
• UW Medicine leadership development program
  Open to UW faculty and staff, includes resources for new and experienced leaders

• Administrators of Internal Medicine (AIM)
  The organization represents chief administrative officers, division administrators, administrative directors and managers, and other senior business administrators in departments of internal medicine.
• AAMC leadership development courses
  Leadership development for academic medicine
• Institute of Translational Health Science (ITHS)
  ITHS offers a variety of seminars and workshops which cover multiple topics and are intended to reach different members of the research team.
