In 1998, Dr. William Bremner, who had been vice chair of the department since 1987, became the fifth chair of the Department of Medicine. A graduate of Harvard University and the UW School of Medicine, where he also completed residency and fellowship training, Dr. Bremner earned a PhD from Monash University.
Margaret has a remarkable record of excellence through a career spanning over 20 years and intersecting academic medicine, social science and public health. A native of Chicago, she received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana, before moving to Ontario to complete a master’s degree and doctorate in political economy and public policy from the University of Toronto.
