Overview
The Department of Medicine has a long history of innovative research and continues to lead the way, building on past successes and discovering new paths.
research dashboard
The Department of Medicine research dashboard provides visual representation and summative data on research grants proposals and awards from 2016-2023 submitted and obtained by faculty within the UW Department of Medicine. The data can be visualized by individual PIs, divisions or the entire department.
The goal of this dashboard is to allow for better internal tracking of extramural grant applications and funding, and to facilitate a better understanding of proposal and award trends to facilitate strategic decision-making.
Additionally, the Research Dashboard can be used to search grant proposal and awards by topic and methodology, which we hope will facilitate greater collaborations and mentorship among faculty and trainees across the Department of Medicine.
(Note: UW Net ID required to access both the dashboard and intranet. VPN required for remote/non-UW internet connections.)

Diversity in clinical trials
The Diversity in Clinical Trials Initiative aims to enhance the representation of historically underrepresented communities among clinical study participants. It ensures that medical treatments and interventions are effectively studied across diverse populations, leading to more equitable healthcare outcomes for all individuals and better medicine.
The University of Washington is taking this opportunity to review and revise our clinical trial policies with deeper and more comprehensive diversity criteria to usher in a new era of inclusive medical research.
A recent town hall offered researchers and other interested parties an opportunity to discuss engaging with diverse communities for clinical trials under the new initiative.
