Led by guest presenters, the Gender Equity Lunch series focused on topics related to gender equity and leadership development. This series is open to all members of all genders in the Department of Medicine.
This lunch series has been replaced by an annual Gender Equity Grand Rounds presentation, and gender equity professional development programs.

Topic: Shared mental model for family support
(results from the Gender Equity Council focus groups)
The Family Support Committee of the DOM Gender Equity Council is charged with identifying department needs and seeking solutions related to supporting employees with families.
In early 2022 we conducted five focus group interviews consisting of staff, faculty, and APPs to understand the barriers to supporting employees with families and to explore what an ideal model of support for DOM faculty, staff, and trainees with families might look like.
The study’s results were discussed and a dialogue started about how we might continue to change the culture of our department around the support of people with families.

Eve Rittenberg, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and a primary care internist at the Fish Center for Women’s Health at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her interests include women’s health, trauma-informed care, and health equity. She is a 2018–2021 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars fellow, working with an interdisciplinary team on trauma-informed care. She is the past medical director of primary care at the Fish Center and is actively engaged in medical student education in women’s health.
