Alene Moris Women's Center

We work with the Alene Moris Women's Center's Making Connections program, a comprehensive college-readiness program for high school students that increases college enrollment and career development through STEM disciplines for low-income, 1st generation, and underrepresented students.

Doctor for a Day

Doctor for a Day provides outreach to youth of color in the greater Seattle area to inspire and encourage middle school and high school students of color to consider medicine or other healthcare careers.

Endocrine rotation

We offer an observership rotation for Spanish Speaking International Medical Graduates (IMG) and medical students with the goal of gaining clinical experience in the USA, strengthening CVs, and increasing competitiveness for U.S. medical residency.

MSTAR

The MSTAR program is an 8-12 week program that provides medical students short-term research training in aging and geriatrics.

TB Scholars

The Tuberculosis (TB) Scholars Program is a funded program designed to provide undergraduates with diverse backgrounds in the greater Seattle area training in tuberculosis research.

UW/Morehouse School of Medicine

The joint University of Washington-Morehouse School of Medicine (UW-MSM) Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) is a dual degree MD/PhD program.

Our Visiting Resident Scholars Program is a funded program designed to give IM residents with diverse backgrounds a chance to experience the training that the University of Washington Department of Medicine has to offer.

Stipends for Training Aspiring Researchers

The Stipends for Training Aspiring Researchers (STAR) program is a paid summer research experience designed to encourage and support the research training of underrepresented minority and disadvantaged undergraduate and graduate students in the health, biomedical, and behavioral sciences.

Summer High School Internship Program

The Summer High School Internship Program (SHIP) is a competitive, eight-week, full-time paid internship for rising 12th graders. The program is specifically designed for students from backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical science.

Summer Health Professions Education Program

The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is a free 6-week (4 weeks virtual and 2 weeks in-person) summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions. 

Teach Lab

Teach Lab is an opportunity for rising sophomore students to learn and practice many of the skills used in biomedical research.

UDOC

UDOC is a free, residential three-week summer education program that aims to foster, affirm, and encourage high school juniors interested in health careers.

URiM Shadow Program

The underrepresented in medicine (URiM) shadow program is a UW primary care group partnership with population health. 

UW NURF

The UW Network of Underrepresented Residents & Fellows (NURF) is a UW resident and fellow-run organization aiming to promote diversity in medicine through community involvement, education, advocacy, policy, mentorship, professional networking, and the recruitment and retention of those who are underrepresented in medicine.

EndoCares

EndoCares is an annual health fair directed towards the Latinx community that offers free screenings, and wellness activities for people with diabetes. 

Gender diverse care

The Transgender and Gender Non-Binary Health Program aims to reduce the health disparities experienced by the transgender and gender non-binary community. We also have endocrine clinics at UW, HMC, and VA that provide care to patients with different gender identities.

Healthcare educator workshops

We partner with the Seattle nonprofit organization “Villa Comunitaria” in a bilingual educational program targeting healthcare educators or “promotoras”. The workshops are on healthy lifestyle, nutrition, heart health, prevention of diabetes, and other related topics.  

HMC Mobile Health Outreach Program

The Harborview Medical Center's Mobile Health Outreach Program is a free clinic staffed by volunteer students and clinicians.  

LatinX Diabetes Clinic

The Latinx Diabetes Clinic provides bilingual and  culturally appropriate care to the LatinX community with Diabetes. 

Primary care partnerships with Fred Hutch

We partner with the Fred Hutch Cancer Center to reduce disparities in colon, breast and lung cancer screening. 

Partnerships with Tribes and Nations

Our involvement with Native American health began in the early 1970s and we have partnerships with Tulalip Tribes, Lummi Nation, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and Makah Nation.
