Each year a group of Internal Medicine residents in the Health Systems Pathway and the QI elective block (led by Dr. Anders Chen, General Internal Medicine) work alongside Harborview leadership to address a high-priority improvement project.

This year, they are working with the HMC Process Improvement Team - Paul Roth and Sara Groves-Rupp - as well as Maralyssa Bann (GIM), Anneliese Schleyer (GIM), Chloe Bryson-Kahn (AID), Katrina Sullivan (GIM) to enhance the care for patients admitted with diabetic foot infections, a topic identified by clinicians and administrative leadership as an area ripe for improvement.

The team of residents (pictured below) participated in a multidisciplinary Rapid Process Improvement Workshop, alongside podiatry, wound care, nursing, therapy and health IT colleagues to unpackage the issue and implement changes to better standardize and streamline care.

They will continue their work throughout this year.
