About us

Our division was founded in 1957 by Dr. Arno Motulsky. Our research faculty cover most areas of Human and Medical Genetics and modern molecular biology. Fifteen members of our faculty are Diplomats of the American Board of Medical Genetics. Six are members of the National Academy of Sciences.

We train individuals for academic careers in human and medical genetics using the most advanced concepts and techniques of genetics and cellular/molecular biology.

Our stories

Dr. Hisama was recognized for years of work in promoting diversity and mentoring underrepresented individuals.

Since opening in 2015, the national Undiagnosed Disease Network has solved more than 200 mysterious cases.

Dr. Stanley Gartler was the first faculty member hired in the Division of Medical Genetics in 1957.
