About us

Our division was founded in 1957 by Dr. Arno Motulsky. Our research faculty cover most areas of Human and Medical Genetics and modern molecular biology. Fifteen members of our faculty are Diplomats of the American Board of Medical Genetics. Six are members of the National Academy of Sciences.

We train individuals for academic careers in human and medical genetics using the most advanced concepts and techniques of genetics and cellular/molecular biology.

Our stories

Dr. Stanley Gartler was the first faculty member hired in the Division of Medical Genetics in 1957.

King named the 2018 recipient of the Advocacy Award by the American Society of Human Genetics.

Dr. George Stamatoyannopoulos, professor of medicine (Medical Genetics) and genome sciences, passed away on June 16.
